Whangārei Dodoland Toy Company Wins Red Dot Design Award

A Whangārei toy company has won an international award for its innovative 3D designs.

Dodoland, created in Whangārei by Hoon Kim, won an international Red Dot Design award.

Eugy, a brand of eco-responsible 3D paper puzzles belonging to dodoland, won over international jurors to receive a distinction at the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2022.

The Red Dot Design Awards are an internationally recognized symbol of design excellence with categories for International Product Design, Branding and Communication, and Design Concept. Eugy from Dodoland was awarded in the international product design category.

Dodoland’s lead designer, Rim Kim, said designing a Eugy is a challenge because it requires a complicated process and collaboration.

”I’m honored to receive this award, but I don’t think it’s just for me, as a designer, but for all the members of the dodoland team and our partners who give me knowledge and inspiration.

Dodoland founder Hoon Kim said that since the company’s inception, it has consistently pursued the core values ​​of its products.

As the 2022 Red Dot Product Design winner, Eugy will be published in the Red Dot Design Yearbook and featured in the winners area on the Red Dot website and other exhibits.

Founder and CEO of the Red Dot Awards, Professor Peter Zec, said the international jury evaluated a huge number of products this year, with a record number of companies and design studios facing expert professional judgement.

“In a multi-day judging process, entries from around the world were vetted and evaluated for design quality and degree of innovation.”

The international jury awarded Eugy its “sought-after quality label for products of exceptional design”.

Dodoland Eugy’s collectible toy brand has an accurate 3D design, which has been recognized by the international design award, made with durable materials using a unique patented structure.

Eugy has over 80 models in its range and is available in over 31 countries. The New Zealand-rooted toy brand is now stocked by major toy retailers around the world, as well as online stores such as Amazon. Dodoland’s line of collectibles focuses on educating children about the wildlife the puzzles represent, as well as the environment in which they live.
