Reunion weekend has arrived, and Friday and Saturday will see events like the parade unfold.

This Friday, the weekly Selfie Fridays Photo Contest continues, where contestants can post photos of themselves on social media with their EIU Homecoming Spirit 2021 T-shirt and have a chance to win various gift cards.

Field Day also takes place Friday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Library Quad and according to the Eastern Homecoming website, “This fun event will feature races, team games, and oversized games for freebies and prices.”

The classes of 1970-71 will celebrate their 50e birthday Friday afternoon at MLK Jr. Union at 4 p.m.

Across the curb from McAfee Gym, there will be a 7-9 p.m. cheer rally that will feature spirits contests and the introduction to Eastern’s Royalty Court.

Saturday starts with a rotating pancake breakfast in the parking lot of Dirty’s Bar and Grill from 6.30am to 10.30am

According to the back home page, the profits will be donated to local charities.

The 23rd The annual 2.5 mile home run, which starts at 9 a.m. and is sponsored by the Eastern Recreation Department, will take runners and walkers around the plaza to the finish line in front of Old Hand.

The Homecoming Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and runs from 6e to 7e St. According to the reunion page, the annual tradition includes around 100 vehicles.

John Schmitt, Eastern Class of 1976 and 1978, is the Grand Marshal of this year’s HC Parade, a title bestowed upon “one or more persons who have made a significant contribution to the mission, vision and community. of the EIU ”.

From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, there will be an “Alumni Tent City” outside O’Brien Field, which will include free food and gifts. Around the same time, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., there will be a tailgate in O’Brien’s parking lot.

The 103rd return game, which sees Eastern host the Tennessee State Tigers, takes place in O’Brien at 2 p.m.

The reunion weekend ends with an alumni awards dinner. There will be a cocktail at 6 p.m. and the dinner and awards ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $ 30 per person.
