The reunion at Illinois State University lasted a century.

Reunion 2021: 100 Years will take place October 11-17, culminating with the Homecoming football game against North Dakota State at 2 p.m. at Hancock Stadium. Tickets are available on

The highlights of the week are below. All events are free and open to the public, unless fees are indicated.

Sunday 10 October
Get into the spirit of reunion with a visit by Reggie Redbird to Miller Park Zoo from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Bring a camera to snap a picture of the kids with Reggie. Zoo entrance fees apply.

Monday, October 11
Homecoming officially begins with the Kickoff on the Quad from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Schroeder Plaza. Celebrate alongside President Terri Goss Kinzy, Reggie Redbird and Coach Brock Spack with food and live performances from Sweet Water, plus a special appearance from the Big Red Marching Machine. Next, meet at the annual tree-lighting ceremony at Uptown Normal at 6:30 p.m. at Uptown Circle.

Tuesday 12 October
Give the gift of life at the Redbirds Care Homecoming Blood Drive in the Bone Student Center’s Brown Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is available at

Wednesday October 13
University Archivist April Anderson-Zorn and Barb Dallinger ’81, MS ’01, will lead the Virtual History Tour: Reggie Redbird at 6 p.m. via Zoom. Learn little-known facts and current events. Register online before noon on the Monday preceding the visit.

Thursday October 14
The Black Colleagues Association will host the Virtual Scholarship Celebration at 6.30 p.m. via Zoom with the return of DJ Vince Adams. Register online before October 6 or call Alumni Engagement at (309) 438-2586.

Friday, October 15
Homecoming shifts into high gear with celebrations across campus.

Starting at 9 a.m., the annual Wonsook Kim School of Art Glass Pumpkin Sale will be held in the parking lot of the Ropp Agriculture Building, rain or shine, until 6 p.m. or until the last pumpkin is sold. The sale offers a wide variety of mouth-blown glass pumpkins in all shapes, colors and price ranges. Cash or check only for purchases.

The inauguration and ribbon cutting of the Multicultural Center will take place at 2 p.m. at the new center’s location at 301 South Main St. Learn more.

Join artist and alumnus Caroline Kent at 3 p.m. in the University Galleries, 11 Uptown Circle, for a gallery walk with the artist. Kent is going to browse his exhibition, Caroline Kent: What the stars can’t tell us, and discuss his work. No reservation is required.

Redbird Arena takes center stage with the Pack the Place Redbird Volleyball match at 6 p.m. After the match will be the coronation of Prince and Princess Homecoming. A crowd favorite concludes the event with the Hoopfest: Basketball Exhibition at 7:30 p.m.

The ISU Black Colleagues Association meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Hancock Stadium Club. Register online before October 6 or call Alumni Engagement at (309) 438-2586.

saturday 16 october
The 5K / 1-Mile Hybrid Town and Gown Fun Run / Walk begins at 8 a.m. at the Fitness Center for students for those participating in person. Virtual runners can start wherever they want. Registration is compulsory.

The celebration continues for the annual Illinois State Reunion Parade, which descends at the corner of College Avenue and University Street at 10 a.m. Those who cannot attend the parade can watch it live through the University’s Facebook page.

After enjoying the tailgating, get ready to cheer on the Redbirds as Illinois State faces North Dakota State at 2 p.m. at Hancock Stadium. Tickets are available on
