IBEW 2022: building blocks for the future | Press Releases | Asia

The built environment sector is changing the way it designs, builds and operates to maintain competitiveness while addressing challenges such as climate change and labor shortages and staying in step with the Green Plan of Singapore 2030.

Cutting-edge technologies such as 3D scanning, IoT-powered energy and facility solutions, and integrated digital delivery for projects, along with insights and thought leadership are what attendees can learn from. expect at the International Built Environment Week (IBEW) conference and trade show, BEX Asia.

IBEW runs September 5-9, 2022 with the IBEW conference and BEX Asia, September 6-8, 2022. Both events will be held in person at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.

This year, BEX Asia is expected to showcase some 200 brands and solutions from more than 20 countries and welcome more than 10,000 professionals and decision makers from Singapore, the region and beyond. It will offer a wide range of solutions for the built environment, including HVAC, robotic systems, building materials, energy management, IoT sensors and digitalization.

Digitization solutions, in particular, are at the forefront of BEX Asia 2022, in line with the evolving demands of the built environment industry.

Mr. Yip Je Choong, Managing Director of RX Singapore, the organizer of BEX Asia 2022, said, “The pandemic has heightened the need for the built environment industry to accelerate digital transformation. As the region’s premier market intelligence platform for the sector, it is imperative that we serve as an accelerator for the industry to move towards a smarter and more sustainable future. As the built environment industry enters an upward cycle, we hope BEX Asia 2022 will help uncover new opportunities and generate profitable business relationships.

Digitization at the center of attention

This year’s BEX Asia comes just as the built environment industry is rapidly embracing new digital technologies, proven over the past two years, to build business resilience and as part of Singapore’s industry transformation roadmap for the sector.

A wide range of technology and digital companies like Autodesk, Cupix and Hitachi Asia will showcase their latest technologies and solutions that will revolutionize the industry. Businesses that have embraced digital technologies have seen a return on their investment.

Autodesk will showcase its capabilities across the entire Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Lifecycle – Digital Twin Success for all phases: Plan, Design, Build, Operate. In a case study shared by Autodesk, TÜV SÜD was able to optimize productivity and building performance right from the design phase when constructing its ASEAN headquarters here in Singapore.

By designing the construction directly in Autodesk Revit, a BIM software, the project team realized design time savings in creation and coordination of 70% compared to the market habit of create the design in CAD software and then translate it into 3D models. At the end of the project, TÜV SÜD provided the building life cycle solutions and the planned optimizations with the interdisciplinary use of Autodesk tools, allowing a substantial reduction of the thermal value of the facade and the lighting costs, as well as energy savings.

Visitors can experience one of Korea’s most advanced solutions, CupixWorks – a 3D digital twin platform designed to support every stage of the built world lifecycle. Powered by a third-generation artificial intelligence (AI) Gamma engine, CupixWorks enables everyone in the AEC to accurately see 3D spatial context remotely from the desktop.

The CupixWorks solution includes an easy-to-use mobile app and a unified building intelligence platform that provides confidence and control of site quality, progress, and risk management from anywhere. Clark Construction Group in the United States has benefited from using the solution. Currently, it has deployed the solution in more than 17 projects since 2021.

Advancing its “Powering Good” message, Hitachi Asia showcases its smart building solutions that lead the way to a greener, more resource-efficient built environment.

Other well-known names in the built environment industry that will be exhibiting at BEX Asia include Camfil Singapore, Daikin Airconditioning Singapore, Nippon Paint, Singapore Polytechnic, Wavin Singapore, Ministry of Clean, Procore Technologies and Schindler Lifts (Singapore).

Visitors can also take Singapore Polytechnic’s Digital Readiness Self-Assessment Survey to find out how their business can leverage data and artificial intelligence to maintain competitiveness. They can choose to follow up with a free face-to-face in-depth consultation. Other highlights of BEX Asia 2022 include technical seminars and networking events. The IBEW Conference will further energize the conversation on advanced building technologies. With a stellar lineup of over 65 industry leaders and domain experts, the IBEW conference will harness their expertise and insights into the latest technologies and trends that span three fundamental pillars, sustainability and the green economy, technology and innovation and leadership and future growth. Speakers include:

  • Moshe Safdie, Founder, Safdie Architects
  • Prof Jason Pomeroy, Founding Director, Pomeroy Studio & Pomeroy Academy
  • Tang Kok Thye, Chairman, Singapore Green Building Council
  • Pierre-Eric Saint-André, Chairman and CEO, Bouygues Bâtiment International
  • Dr. Johnny Wong, Deputy Chief Executive (Building), Housing Development Board

Please see the website for more program information.

The IBEW conference will also bring together some 400 CEOs and senior executives from leading developers, builders, specialty vendors, consultants, solution and service providers, and financiers in an exclusive, invitation-only, “CEOs in Conversation” on September 8. Themed “Leading Together, Co-creating Success”, this session will see leaders from Building and Construction Authority, NGO&NGO, Keppel Land, Obayashi Singapore and McKinsey & Company discuss and share what built environment companies can do collectively to accelerate growth.

Another highlight that IBEW 2022 attendees can look forward to is visiting exemplary project sites in Singapore, including Avenue South Residence, the world’s tallest PPVC project, and BCAA, a development that exemplifies the improvement productivity and the adoption of multi-DfMA technologies, just to name a few. Site visits will take place the day before the Conference, ie 5 September.
