Grand Street Restaurant Week kicked off Monday August 16: Bushwick Daily


Contrary to what the name suggests and like NYC Restaurant Week, Grand Street Restaurant Week is actually longer than a week, ending August 29.

This year 11 different restaurants with a variety of cuisines are participating. Each will offer prix fixe three-course dinners from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with reduced prices from $ 20.75 to $ 35.

At Taco Edition, you can accompany your meal with a mango and passion fruit granita or a frozen virgin strawberry daiquiri.

Among the participating restaurants is the Bahia Restaurant, a Salvadoran spot that has been part of the neighborhood for over 20 years. This year, they are offering a tamales, salad or pupusas starter, carne asada or vegetarian starter, flan and a white or red sangria to accompany it all, all for only $ 25.

Another longtime member of the neighborhood is Grand Morelos. The bakery and eatery restaurant’s weekly menu features Mexican-American comfort food, including quesadillas, fajitas, and even an “Impossible” chocolate flan for $ 23.

Back with a new backyard, Taco Edition’s three-course meal comes at an affordable price of $ 21. Their menu offers frozen drinks to accompany elote or tostadas as an aperitif and enchiladas or seared fish as a starter.

For a delicious sandwich, head to the Sandwich Shop. This year they’re offering a choice of one of their sandwiches, wraps, salads and rice bowls with fresh ingredients, which can be paired with a bag of chips and a drink of choice for $ 20.75.

BK Jani’s Javani Burger features a six-ounce beef patty, spicy mozzarella, spicy pesto, and a balsamic reduction.

New to Grand Street Restaurant Week is BK Jani. Specializing in Pakistani street food, BK Jani also makes an excellent burger revisited. You can get one, along with an appetizer of lamb chops and a drink of your choice of limeade or their Jani mango, for $ 28.

For $ 35, you can feast on Italian cuisine at Ammazzacaffè. The Michelin-approved restaurant is equipped with courtyard seating and a range of delicious summer dishes, such as their Gemelli Verde: pasta with Maitake mushrooms, spinach and goat cheese.

For Mexican food at a slightly lower price, you can visit Los Tacos Mcondo. The restaurant has an outdoor sidewalk dining area and offers nachos, burritos, fajitas, and churros. With hearty portions, the $ 29 price tag is well worth it, although you’ll have to bring cash as they don’t take a card.

A Latin cuisine option is the carnival-themed fusion restaurant, Carneval. For $ 35, their menu this year features creative specialties such as a sushi appetizer that features yellow plantain, shrimp, avocado sauce, and pico de gallo. For dessert, they offer sweet empanadas filled with guava, Nutella and pineapple or arroz con leche, which you can enjoy outside on their large back patio.

The restaurant with perhaps the most options this year is Thip Osha, with over 10 options for appetizers alone. You can get a range of dishes, which include entrees like Tom Kha soup or papaya salad; fried rice, noodles, seafood, curry and specialties and coconut cream or banana sticky rice for dessert. One order will cost you $ 25.

If you’re looking for a ramen fix, order from Ryujin for $ 25. Their menu includes edamame and steamed dumplings in addition to various bowls of ramen. For your drink or dessert, you have the choice of beer, sake or mochi ice cream.

Finally, Mad for Chicken, a restaurant chain with locations in New York and all the way to Texas, offers boneless or bone-in wings as well as kimchi fried rice. Start with truffle or Parmesan fries as an appetizer (or a salad, if you’re trying to eat light!) Then pair your entree with beer or a glass of sangria and get it all for $ 25.
