Claimed New iPhone 14 Pro CAD Renders Reveal Design We Didn’t Expect

New CAD renders that purportedly depict the design of the iPhone 14 Pro have revealed that we may not get the big redesign of the iPhone we were previously promised.

The renders come from 91 Mobiles, an outlet known for sharing product design before release, but not without fail. (The outlet previously shared a highly proliferated but completely flawed Apple Watch Series 7 design before its release).

From now on:

91mobiles now brings you 3D CAD renderings of the iPhone 14 Pro, courtesy of industry sources. The renders reveal the entire design of the upcoming iPhone pro and confirm some key details. First, CAD renders of the iPhone 14 Pro confirm that the bathtub notch disappears. In its place, there will be a pill-shaped cutout and a small circular cutout right next to it. The cutouts will house the Face ID sensors and the selfie camera. The front has symmetrical bezels at all corners, with the top bezel accommodating the speaker grille. This gives the device a very premium look. The power button sits on the right, while the volume rocker, SIM tray section, and edit slider sit on the left edge.

The leak, if real, is very interesting because it doesn’t line up with previous leaks from Jon Prosser, also a notorious leaker of pre-launch Apple designs, and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In September, Prosser said Apple would ditch the camera bump in favor of a flat back for the iPhone 14, redesigning its volume buttons and adding a small circular punch-hole to the front display. Last year, Mark Gurman said that we should expect a “complete redesign” of the iPhone 14 in 2022.

Today’s purported images appear to depict the iPhone 14 Pro which will remain largely similar to Apple’s current best iPhone, the iPhone 13, with the same rear camera bump, layout, and more. Indeed, the only change pictured is a new perforated housing for the camera and Face ID on the front of the screen. This single change to the front has been rumored by several different sources, all of which indicate that Apple will be ditching the iPhone 14 ‘Pro’ notch in favor of the hole-punch.

Apple is expected to unveil a new iPhone later this year, with a new A-series chip for Pro models only, and a new iPhone 14 “Max” in place of the mini, which is apparently on its way out.
