$ 11 million mansion includes sports betting theater

Anna Berg’s modern estate in Santa Barbara is eye-catching. The distinct bold white exterior contrasted by black framed windows and red tiled roof is, to say the least, striking.

“You can see it when you are driving,” Berg said. “It’s like a lighthouse. It’s not something you see a lot in Vegas.

Towering above the first community of Southern Highlands Golf Club, behind the exclusive double doors of Augusta Canyon, 16 Oakmont Hills Lane is listed for $ 11 million via Ben and Natalia Harris of Las Vegas Sotheby’s International Realty.

“It’s one of a kind,” said Natalia Harris. “This is the highest custom course in the Southern Highlands Golf Club.”

The fascinating aspect of this sophisticated custom property is the story behind the design of the house and Berg, its creator.

Berg, as the owner, conceptualized and designed the entire 10,462 square foot two-story home, down to the smallest detail.

“It’s an entrepreneur’s worst nightmare,” Berg said with a laugh. “I’ve always had a passion for it, so it was something I knew I wanted to do on my own.

She contracted with John McDonough of Canyon Creek Custom Homes and opened the land in December 2018. The project took approximately 18 months.

In the end, McDonough encouraged Berg to get a business license so he could refer her to clients. Today, Berg owns a growing interior design business, Anna Berg Designs, where she works with high-end clients.

“He liked my design aesthetic,” Berg said. “This is where I shine, large-scale custom homes. I love to do this.

Architect Steven S. Taylor designed the layout of the house based on Berg’s specifications. Together they have created a cohesive flow of prominent elevation to the modern interior.

“I wanted the two to be connected,” Berg said. “Often the exterior is one way and the interior another and they have no connection.”

In the end, Berg focused on the selection of materials and interior finishes, carefully selecting classic textures, luxurious finishes and glamorous furnishings.

“The whole design process was going on and shopping at different stores,” Berg said. “I like the glam but simple aesthetic, so I wanted to create a blank slate, where I could add my personal touches.”

In her design, she incorporated geometric shapes to infuse subtle visual interest into the whole.

“The patterns give you clean lines and symmetry,” Berg said. “It’s a theme. Little touches hidden throughout the house that tie everything together.

The spectacular entrance to the property is through a majestic custom glass and black metal door flanked by custom 6 foot sconces. Berg ordered the large 12-by-8-foot door to replace a smaller door intended for the space.

“I wanted to make the whole space a door,” Berg said. “It took a tremendous amount of construction planning and design work. It was worth creating an unforgettable experience walking through the threshold.

The foyer boasts a 25-foot-high ceiling, a striking asymmetrical chandelier, and gorgeous imported Italian marble floors, setting the tone for the home.

One of Berg’s favorite features is the grand maple staircase with a custom black metal handrail. The dramatic curved stairwell wall finished with Phillip Jeffries metallic wallpaper visually draws the eye upward.

At the base of the staircase is a freestanding pop art piece, by artist Becky Rosa, which Berg had shipped from Miami. The piece features a large fuchsia Birkin bag on an ice cream cone.

“It’s called Birkream,” said Berg. “Love the Birkin bag and ice cream cone game.”

Right next to the fireplace, a double-sided glass fireplace with Wow tiles and a Porcelanosa slate surround separates the formal living room from the formal dining room.

The grand entrance with formal living room draws you into a spacious layout that flows easily from the great room, kitchen, casual dining area, and premier indoor / outdoor living room.

The two-story Great Room features custom built-in elements with ambient lighting flanking a central fireplace with an eye-catching second Porcelanosa slate surround.

“Any material on a 25-foot fireplace should be understated yet beautiful,” Berg said of the entourage. “This one has a sparkle, so it gives off a little bit of glitter.”

Spacious retractable doors open the entire main level seamlessly to the more than three-quarters acre exterior featuring a pool, spa, swim-up bar, sunken fire pit, outdoor kitchen and wet bar. sink.

“I love the idea of opening doors and expanding your living space,” Berg said. “We spend a lot of time outside with our children.

Adjacent to the great room, the chef’s kitchen features high-end finishes such as custom gray oak cabinetry, professional-grade appliances, and modern pendant lights enhancing a sophisticated aesthetic.

“I wanted it to be open and clean,” Berg said. “A space where you could have fun while being accessible for your family to enjoy. “

Double waterfall kitchen islands with timeless marble counters create a spectacular space. The expansive front island with an internal marble waterfall serves as a wet bar with an entertaining sink, Nugget ice maker, and beverage refrigerator.

“It’s a place where you can put ice and stack your champagne bottles,” Berg said. “Or juice boxes if you’re having a children’s party.”

Berg has incorporated special touches such as a built-in knife drawer, pot filler, warming drawer, full-size pantry, and pantry with a built-in Miele coffee machine, sink and refrigerator. drinks.

Outside the kitchen is what Berg calls the house sports betting theater. Six 80-inch TVs line the exterior wall while an active sports ticker broadcasts the latest sports news.

“My husband is really into sports,” Berg said. “We had to change the design of the house by removing a bar to fit these televisions. “

The theater’s large retractable doors open to an outdoor conversation area with fireplace.

The private upper master is an intimate retreat featuring a fireplace with a custom tile surround, a private deck, and a morning bar with marble countertop. The striking Phillip Jeffries wallpaper provides a strong focus behind the bed.

“I wanted to do something that wasn’t huge,” Berg said. “If you get a room that’s too big, you lose the privacy of the space.”

The sleek bathroom includes a walk-in marble shower with a 19-inch rainfall showerhead, two sinks, and a free-standing tub.

The tub is accented by a dramatic hexagon-shaped tile wall. Berg’s favorite space in the house is his walk-in closet tucked away in the master bedroom. The voluminous space paints a personal portrait of Berg’s design style.

Mosaic Artist Allison Eden Smile Lips wallpaper spans the contrasting ceiling with the 36 inch crystal light fixture floating above a marble island.

The intimate space includes a built-in makeup station, TV, washer / dryer, floor-to-ceiling storage and hardwood flooring. The room is guarded by a fingerprint lock.

“My closet was an important thing to me,” Berg said. “I can go there and spend hours.”

Other highlights include five en-suite bedrooms, a fitness room / beauty salon, a formal dining room with a temperature-controlled wine cellar, an office, a game room, a dog room with a outdoor dog park and lift.

Augusta Canyon in the premier Southern Highland Golf Club offers double door security. In addition to Augusta Canyon, there are five private patrolled enclaves in the community.

“It is home to many of the city’s celebrities and athletes,” said Randy Char, president and corporate broker of Las Vegas Sotheby’s International Realty. “Some of the enclaves have Strip and mountain views. Others are surrounded by the magnificent golf course.
